The history
The history of our company has deep roots and a strictly family tradition that has been intertwined with the rows of vines for many years.
The vineyards have been worked for four generations, since great-grandfather Giuseppe began planting and working the first vines at the beginning of the 20th century. Those were difficult years characterized by two world wars, but Giuseppe, assisted by his son Francesco, continued cultivating the vines through great sacrifices, tenacity, and determination, following the destruction caused by the wars.
Francesco, in turn, passed on his great passion to his son Giuseppe, who, with commitment and dedication, managed to expand the company’s boundaries by purchasing new land, increasing production, and focusing on improving the high quality of the grapes and wines.
Now Francesco represents the fourth generation, continuing the family tradition, striving to best combine the experience of the past with today’s innovations, while respecting their roots.
The "Philosophy"
Where the past and future intertwine,
Our wines are born from the meticulous care we bestow upon our vineyards,
The fruit of a passion nurtured over time,
Day by day, vine by vine,
Respecting the rhythms of nature,
Forging a deep bond with the land.
Harmoniously blending
The traditions of the past with modern techniques
In a perfect union.
The Vineyards
The Giuseppe Principiano farm is located in Piedmont, in the Langhe region, an area rich in traditions, known and appreciated for its evocative landscapes and great wines. Specifically, we are in Monforte d’Alba, at Loc. San Giuseppe, n. 23.
Today, the properties of this company, spread between the municipalities of Monforte d’Alba and Serralunga d’Alba in the Langhe, consist of about eight hectares of vineyards.
The nature and structure of the soil, their location, favorable exposure, and suitable climate are the natural elements that, combined with skilled, strictly manual work, allow for the production of great wines such as the highly prized Barolo, Barbera d’Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo, and Dolcetto d’Alba.
The cultivated grape varieties are Dolcetto, Barbera, and particularly Nebbiolo, characterized by steep slopes.
The type of training system used is the classic “guyot”, with altitudes varying between 280 and 400 meters above sea level. Currently, the family-run business is managed by Giuseppe Principiano with his wife Lucia and son Francesco. With their experience, respecting the precious teachings handed down by their ancestors, combined with modern techniques, they carefully attend to every phase of the production cycle that takes place in the vineyards and continues in the winery.
The cellar
Our winery is well-equipped and has facilities to allow for all processes in the production of our wines, from grape maceration to subsequent vinification, aging, and refinement. There are stainless steel tanks and large 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels where aging takes place.
In the cellar, we enhance the work done in the vineyard. The goal is to preserve the character of the grape, exalt its richness, transforming it into wine that grows and matures unhurriedly.
Our efforts are focused on producing wines capable of conveying to those who drink them the typicality of the territory and the vintage in which they are born, the traditions, passion, hard work, and dedication we devote to them.
